Todd Bowles is to Become Jets’ New Head Coach

On Tuesday night the New York Jets remodelled their franchise in two moves, one being the addition of Todd Bowles as the new head coach.

After intensive negotiation, it seems like the Jets have finally reached an agreement with the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals, Todd Bowles who is rumored to be the next head coach for the team. Although this has yet to be confirmed or formally acknowledged by the Jets, two insiders with direct knowledge of the recruitment process revealed that a deal would soon be reached between Bowles and the team.

Also, in a text message to ESPN correspondent Josina Anderson, Todd Bowles wrote that he had indeed accepted the Jets’ job. Anderson later posted the text message to twitter. Bowles acceptance of the position has been described as his homing coming since he began his coaching career with the Jets back in 2000.

Both Todd Bowles and Dan Quinn the Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator had been the Jet’s top two picks for the coveted spot of head coach. While Quinn had been a top contender the team was leerious about furthering negotiations due to the fact that he could not receive or accept offers until the Seahawks season was over which could very well be until the Superbowl.

After wowing the team in an initial interview last Wednesday, Todd Bowles was later invited back to the city for a dinner meeting the following Tuesday where he wowed team owner Woody Johnson and other team consultants. Todd Bowles impressed the team so much that they readily canceled a previously scheduled interview with Sean McDermott, who is the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

Todd Bowles will be replacing Rex Ryan, who was recently announced as the new Buffalo Bills coach. Much like Ryan, Bowles is a great defensive coach who has helped his team rank amongst the top seven defensive teams in the league. In addition, Bowles played in the NFL for eight years and worked in defensive coaching for fifteen seasons. He has worked for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Todd Bowles, isn’t the only new face that the Jets’ will see this season. Mike Maccagnan was recently hired as the new defensive coordinator. Maccagnan stood out from other qualified candidates because of his extensive background and detailed skills in evaluating players.
