Processed foods can make a person age quicker and can cause some health issues as well. Stay away from those foods and trade them in for six healthy servings of vegetables a day. This will help to lower your risk of developing diabetes by 21 percent.

Say No! To Cigarettes
If you are a smoker, you are increasing your chance of developing diabetes by 40 percent. The more you smoke, your chances of developing diabetes are even greater. While smoking is bad for your health on so many levels, it is also bad for the skin as well. This can cause a double dose of problems when it comes to possible diabetic complications in the future, such as ulcers that will not heal properly.

Stay Fit
When it comes to staying healthy, you want to keep your body as healthy as possible and just eating healthy food is not enough. By implementing a regular aerobic exercise into your daily life, you can stay healthy, keep your cholesterol and blood pressure levels down, and regulate insulin production as well. If you have a pedometer, it is good to take about 10,000 steps daily. However, if that is way too much then 3,500 steps per day can lower you risk of developing diabetes by 29 percent.
