If you’re battling with ED or heart problems, it’s nothing to be ashamed about. A lot of 50+ American men are using the Mediterranean diet to fight both conditions.
The dots have been connected by Greek researches, who have linked the Mediterranean diet to improved heart health in erectile dysfunction (ED) patients.
In the study authored by Dr. Anthanasios Angelis, it shows that 80 percent of ED patients have vascular issues. So it’s believed that erectile dysfunction could be a warning sign of an increased risk of stroke or heart attack.
The Med-Diet Score1 system was used by the researchers to assess how the Mediterranean diet has helped group participants with ED. This consisted of 75 men with an average age of 56.
Vascular disease, also known as atherosclerosis, is when the inner lining of your arteries starts to develop an accumulation of plaque, causing the arteries to have abnormal stiffness. The men in the group were evaluated for both conditions.
A low score on the Med-Diet Score1 test means poor heart and vascular function. The participants in the group that did score poorly were found to have thicker arterial lining, aorta stiffness, greater diastolic dysfunction and increased mass in the left ventricular compared to those who scored well.
Dr. Angelis points out that changing your diet to the Mediterranean diet, which consists of unrefined cereals, fruit, veggies, olive oil, pasta and minimal meat and dairy, could improve cardiovascular health and prolong life.
This finding has also been reflected in another study that was led by Immaculata De Vivo, associate professor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and Harvard Medical School. In here, it shows that being on the Mediterranean diet helps folks to live longer lives.
Enhancing your health with the Mediterranean Diet could be done by simply substituting red meats and fish with legumes and mushrooms, cow milk with almond milk and inputting more live foods like berries, melons, leafy greens and nuts. A lot of 50+ Americans are improving their diet in some way or fashion, so that they can live longer to do more of the things they enjoy and see their grandchildren grow older. The Mediterranean Diet is only one of the popular fads out there today, but this has scientific evidence proving that it is indeed a way to improve your overall health. If you are dealing with ED and/or cardiovascular health problems, then you should consider giving the Mediterranean diet a try.
