Tilda Swinton’s has never been conventional in anything she has done, making this latest venture a welcome (but well-deserved) surprise.
Tilda Swinton has always received adoring reviews for her cool, androgynous style. Now Nars Cosmetics is celebrating her unique beauty—the iconic British actress has been announced as the new face of the chic cosmetics company and will star in its spring 2015 campaign.
The 53-year-old actress is flawless in the first shot from the new Nars advertisments, her cropped platinum hair standing out against an enormous gray scarf that forms a halo around her chiseled face. In an artistic twist, the photos were shot by François Nars, the brand’s founder and artistic director, who has often raved about her timeless style and look. Francois Nars shot four portraits of Swinton that will slowly unroll January through April, with every new photo revealing a new collection. I have my eye on the Eye-Opening Act, the first new limited-edition set of colors.
Swinton follows smoldering Charlotte Rampling, 68, who is already the face of Nars’s lipstick. Finally, a company that doesn’t try to vie for a mature audience using size-zero, baby-faced models! Both of these women look absolutely ravishing in their portraits.
Rampling’s photos debuted in August, and Swinton is the perfect woman to follow her. Swinton, who won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in Michael Clayton and is best known for her roles in The Chronicles Of Narnia, is a legend in the making with a uniquely captivating beauty. She’s not your typical Hollywood star, and has confidently made her own path. With skin as pale as ice, short white-blond hair, minimal makeup, stunning cheekbones and bold style, Swinton always looks breathtakingly radiant.
I love Nars’s famous Orgasm blush, and I’ve been using their Mambo crayon eyeliner daily for more than a decade. It’s nice to feel good about a company you’ve been loyal to for so long.
It really does.
